Ilkley Road, Burley in Wharfedale
The Generous Pioneer was built on the former sports & cricket field of Burley in Wharfedale Sports Club - Clarence Field (Burley District Cricket). In 1925 the sports club moved to its present location at Hodson Park, Grange Road, Burley in Wharfedale.
2022 - Closed and demolished to make way for several blocks of retirement apartments.

Then as Little Esscroft Cafe, added a petrol filling station & became known as Riversdale Cafe.
In 1929 Albert Warburton, the owner, applied for an alcohol license, but this was refused. Albert Warburton was the son of William Warburton, the conductor of Burley & District Brass Band & also the co-partner in Warburton Brothers Garage on Main Street, Burley in Wharfedale.
It changed its name to Riversdale Road House under the proprietor E. O. Tyson.
1960 Riversdale Cafe & Filling Station.
In the 1970s it was a night club called "Jeeves" run by Michael Booth.
1975 Riversdale Restaurant
c1981 to 2004 it was a Little Chef with the petrol filling station removed.
c2006 to May 2023 - an outlet for Kashmiri Aroma restaurants.
June 2023 - Planning application submitted to Bradford Council to convert premises for use as a McDonald's Restaurant. If given the go-ahead it would be open from 8.00am until midnight, 7 days a week in line with the current takeaway restrictions on the site.
